Airworthiness Review in Germany

We travelled to Germany to check an Airbus A330 and perform an Airworthiness Review, required for the ECoA issuance by the Competent Authority to export the aircraft from EASA.

An Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC) or its Recommendation to the Competent Authority is issued after a successful Airworthiness Review from an authorised Airworthiness Review Staff (ARS), which entails a full review of Airworthiness related records and a physical survey of the aircraft.

An Airworthiness Review could be very time demanding and requires a deep and fundamental knowledge across a range of subject areas, including Maintenance Planning, CAMO Engineering, Technical Records, Reliability, Part 145 and Part 21.

Each Airworthiness Review has its own peculiarities, especially when performed on aircraft registered outside of EASA’s jurisdiction and requiring review for the import.

In the General Aviation environment, configuration may vary from aircraft to aircraft due to various options of the manufacturer, while commercial aircraft of the same family are in general very similar.

During their entire life, differences may become significant, even for aircraft with the same line number, depending on the geographic areas of operation requirements, OEM SBs, STCs and minor local modifications implemented by the different operators.

Another special review belonging to the above-mentioned cases involves conversion of the aircraft from pax to cargo and immediate import at the end of the conversion.

Our ARS, Gabriele Brescianino, just travelled to Germany to check an Airbus A330 and perform an Airworthiness Review, required for the ECoA issuance by the Competent Authority to export the aircraft from EASA. The certificate was issued by the Authority without any findings or remarks in a timely manner, fully in line with the expectations and needs of the customer.
