Air Worthy completes first decade with range of projects

This summer, aviation airworthiness consultancy, Air Worthy, will celebrate its tenth birthday and 2025 has already been a very busy year for the Italian-based airworthiness and aircraft CAMO specialist.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the key projects the Air Worthy team is currently working on:

AWAS

Air Worthy’s innovative AWAS (Air Worthy Aircraft Software), which launched earlier this year, continues its trial phase with launch customer, Challenge Air Cargo. The development team has been very pleased with the software integration and the programme now includes the data for a number of different aircraft models, featuring fast, secure and crucially, accurate cross-checks, which reduces the risks of human error.

Unique to the aviation sector, AWAS can be customised to specific operational needs, as well as delivering an improved level of flexibility and usability across the CAMO process. Hosted in the cloud with no server requirement, AWAS provides a more secure, intuitive user interface, which enables workflow and project progress to be monitored in real time by Air Worthy’s CAMO team.  A new portal also facilitates customer access, so that all stakeholders can view an aircraft’s live documentation and compliance status.

Boeing 777 technical acceptance and transition

Air Worthy is supporting the transition of six Boeing 777s for a major cargo airline customer. One of Air Worthy’s directors was in Cairo recently to oversee the technical acceptance of the latest aircraft, which had been acquired. From initial support to the final acceptance, Air Worthy ensured that the aircraft met all the required standards.

In the upcoming months, some of these aircraft are expected to undergo passenger to freight conversion, with further support from Air Worthy’s expert team. This complex and lengthy process involves many technically demanding phases, including avionics and structural modifications.

Airbus A320 painting

As part of our technical consulting service, Air Worthy is also called upon to monitor the re-painting of aircraft, as part of the transition process from one owner, lessor or operator, to another. For this particular project, which involved the transition of two Airbus A320s from one European based operator to another airline. Air Worthy deployed two technical representatives onsite to monitor the re-painting phase, each of which takes up to three weeks to complete.

Air Worthy recently supported the acquisition of three Airbus A320 aircraft for a European lessor, with two remaining under our CAMO as they undergo a 12-year structural inspection, or D-Check.

CAMO expertise

As highlighted in a separate blog, the role of a CAMO is highly complex and specialised. It requires many disciplines, all focused on aircraft safety, including: liaison with relevant authorities on behalf of an aircraft owner/lessor; finding solutions to technical issues; updating of aircraft technical manuals; performing AOG inspections and safeguarding records. When outsourced, a CAMO representative may be permanently based on-site during a heavy maintenance check or complex STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) modification, to oversee the process and ensure the schedule is kept on track.

Air Worthy also offers technical services for aircraft transitions (Pre-purchase inspections; Mid-lease audits; Physical surveys; Technical lease reviews) all over the world, which is delivered through a global network of approved technical consultancy partners.
